BJO considers we should express thanks and appreciation, on behalf of the BJ Community, to both Angel Davis and Steve Swan at the BJ Parish Magazine .
Their community spirit and application to the project continues month in month and deserves praise. We understand the The Parish Magazine appears to be ever increasing in its content and has a good number of advertisers. However, we understand the those at the PM are considering improvements to develop the publication further. This will obviously need additional imput by those behind the scenes and we guess also that additional revenue may well be needed
May we respectfully suggest ( after a small confidential poll amongst our own friends) that regular readers would be willing to accept a small increase in purchase price, to assist in ensuring that this familiar, monthly, publication continues to develop and serve the community in the manner which the readers and community obviously appreciate. Â

Changes at the Methodist Church in June saw Senior Steward Geoff Arnold step down after 13 years as Steward,  and 17 years as Senior Steward. What a record and contribution to his faith and community. Individuals like Geoff are few and far between, they set such a shining example that many of us can be guilty of accepting his being there . Just like when we "flick on a light switch" and we expect the darkness to disappear.
Everyone in the community, not just the church, should be thankful for the "Geoffs" in this life, for without them our lives would not be so richÂ
We now understand that the Fund for the Christmas Cross is a success and that hopefully this Christmas we will all once again see this traditional illuminated landmark within our village, brightening the lives of everyone.
Finally just a few words for those tireless volunteers and patrons of the Schoolroom Friday morning Coffee Pop-in.  Thank-you to each and everyone of you - your tireless contribution to the life and times of this communiuty of ours is truly priceless

We begin this new category with BJO with what appears to be somewhat of a new era in our village life
It appears with the BJPC announcment, that there has been a "C" change in its administrations activities which has resulted in some financial improvements - An excess income over expenditure of nearly £10,000.  with  the accounts apparently showing reserves of approx 30% of expenditure  - includcng a reduction in administration costs of £2000 +Â
The re-establishment of the old defunct NHW with the new Burton Joyce "Community" Neighbourhood Watch. The initiative received a  resounding support of the community with 39+ volunteer Co-ordinators within days of its Open Day launch at the Carnvan Rooms   (e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Finally and at last the Village Plan committee has circulated its long awaited questionairre - seeking the opinion of everyone in the communty. The Village Plan is intended as a template for the future development of the village , its community and facilities -  lets all keep our fingers crossed !
