History

Local history is vitally important and interesting - linked together with the ever increasing interest of the public in genealogy, it becomes an interest that can become all consuming . However, there is one fact for sure that an interest in local and family history is not only enlightening and personally satisfying, it is also constructive in establishing and developing a much clearer understanding of the circumstances our forbears and locality lived thro. The subject also bring together individuals with a mutual interest in detecting, discovery and a realisation of the development of our village and community

So why not begin to investigate you own circumstance, and  if you are new to the village, why not adopt a local project which will assist in developing the fuller picture of the Burton Joyce locality

After all, there are areas locally which have produced Roman remains, were part of Sherwood Forest, with past celebrities who could well have been involved with Robin Hood !

ALSO !! The following  "Timeline" format is our way to illustrate the history of Burton Joyce village

This Timeline illustrates the history of BJ village and its community from a starting point in the mid 1600's. We are seeking to develop and expand this project further, however we do need the help, participation and contributions of:

ONLINE B J GENEALOGY enthusiasts

All too frequently, B J historical information is stored within inaccessible archives and certainly not easily available to those who use the Internet . This B J Online Timeline project is our own simplified version of  "Wilkipedia".

This TimeLine is available to all genealogists to use and participate with their own input and knowledge of our village and past families activities.
