This is a really interesting topic stimulated by a Forum posting by "JohnfromNotts". Thanks John!
I just wonder how many of our existing Burton Joyce Parish Councillors will have, or admit to having, knowledge of this historic Coldl War Bunker constructed in B J. If so, have any of them actually visited the site and been into the construction itself? If not, who in the village should have and would have known? (Is this Top Secret?)
It would also be interesting to know also if the LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY are aware of this historic construction. If so, is it archived for the general public to access ?. If not, it now should be, for it must certainly be a significant part of our village historyÂYou can see photographs and read more by clicking this link.
Finally, it would be interesting to know which body of the past "faceless" administration actually sanctioned this construction and did any rehearsals for the "worst case senario" take place?
Quite a few questions we consider should have answers.
It is all very interesting and the highlighting of this particular discovery will hopefully produce and stimulate much ongoing interest.
