Wind Turbines -The Truth! - will the alternative really hurt ? - Yes certainly!

The above image is a visual posted on the BJPC website. Is this a representative image of what we will see locally ? Of course not ! How many of us will be looking down from this height.? Why not include within the visual the entire Burton Joyce village and some realistic visuals from ground level ?- The result will be dramatically change - in fact how many of the community will actually see and hear the Turbines going about their everyday lives within this village of ours - a village cocooned within such attractive and established foliage .
The map below does clearly show all the village with established tree foliage, yet the above image only illustrates the bottom left hand corner of the full village shown below

In order to bring some clarity to the proposals to install Wind Turbines locally and in an attempt to establish a realistic estimate of the affect they may have on the village community, we undertook a “walk around” survey. The survey was to try to make an realistic assessment of the time and %age part of their lives of those families and individuals residing in BJ, who may have visual contact with the proposals (by virtue of their home location and normal activities).
--------------------
"Right ! Joyce coat, hat and boots on we are going for a mystery walk this morning" -- "Oh Burt you are a one - where are we going ?" " Not telling yer Joyce !" "Why Burt ? " -- " Because it is scientific Joyce " " Oh alright then Burt mums the word"
The walk went from the Paper Shop on Church Road down towards Main St , up Lambley Lane to the very top and then down again toward the left turn to the Bridal Way and Padleys Lane back to Main St. - " Nope ! mutters Burt - not from here"
At the bottom of Padleys Burt-n-Joyce turned left into Main Street, ignored going up Willow Wong, but continued all the way down Main Street to the junction with Shaftbury Ave - " Nope ! mutters Burt - not from here"
"Burt whats the matter is someone following us ? Yer keep looking back" " No! Joyce dont fret, it will all become clear soon" " Nope ! mutters Burt" - not from here"
Arriiving at Bulcote end of Church Road Burt-n-Joyce crossed the road toward Wellington Road, down into Lee Road and left then back along Gordon Road to Church Road again. " Nope ! mutters Burt not from here"
" Burt this really is a drag. Can we have rest now ?" "Not much longer Joyce lets walk back along this side " Burt why is it that you have stopped looking back ?" " No need to now Joyce" " Why is that Burt" " Because what I am looking out for is somewher up ahead Joyce" "Oh thats nice Burt" " Nope ! mutters Burt - not from here"
"Well here we are Joyce, almost back at the back at the Church and my guess is that the majority of the folk in BJ will not be able to make visual contact from where they live " "Visual contact with what Burt" - " The proposed wind turbines at Stoke Bardolph Joyce" " Oh thats nice Burt" " Yep! mutters Burt -smiling and not from here either - but all this wind should certainly help the cause" !
------------
The location and landscape in which BJ is situated, together with the of tree mass and year round foliage presence assists greatly in the obscuring a visual contact by a majority of the dwellings. It is estimated that approximately only 25% of the community’s homes will have an unfettered visual of the proposed Wind Turbines.
Now if we also consider
1)That generally for 1/3rd of each day we are all resting and asleep.
2)That 26 weeks of the year there is a limit to daylight hours
3)That 8 hours/5 days of most weeks the majority of working residents are employed or away from their homes.
4)That 6 hours/5 days of most weeks children are at school.
5)That the elderly/retired/carers/parents are usually occupied with planned tasks or leisure activities for much of the majority of most days .
Then a more realistic calculation of the time each of us may be “exposed” to any visualisation problems associated with the proposed wind turbines, can be assessed.
The result is quite surprising and relatively easy to calculate - It equates to the conclusion that “going about our everyday activities” the Wind Turbine will only be visible for approx 10% of the time, to approx 25 % of the Village population. ( excluding the motoring to and from Nottingham along Burton Road and the new Bye pass )
Now that does puts the possible situation into perspective. We should this visual contact in the same context as the other undesirables which we have to accept - such as railway traffic and noise, road noise and activities, civilian and military helicopters, private aeroplanes, military jet fighters, passenger jet aircraft ( incoming into EMA) “spewing out spent” aviation fuel into our immediate environment, Electricity pylons, mobile phone masts, fumes refuse etc. We are obliged to accept all of these as an inevitability of our lifestyle, yet accepting the need for renewably energy generation, contributing to the saving of our planet (for our children and their children), easing ice cap melting, and the effect on coastal erosion, ensuring the supply of clean water and nourishing food for the undeveloped nations ( who do not even contribute to carbon emission) are all issues which result from “burying our heads in the sand “, debating, delaying, objecting and refusing to quickly adopt a contribution for remedial action - all too often the result of selfish, short-sighted NIMBY,ism .
Finally! - Yes” we are part of the 25% who will have “visual contact” from our home in BJ
