It is almost a year now since our personal  village friend , ex BJ Councillor, Founder & Ex Chairman of the BJ Residents Association and a BJ community member extra-ordinairre - Julie O’Neill departed this life. YET regretfully , we still await to see a permanent recognition by our “Village Elders/ Administration” for her immense personal contribution to this village of ours.
So we are taking the “Bull by the Horns”
For many years Julie devoted much of her time to successfully fighting the local “Gravel Extraction Plan & Applications”. Julie also was personally instrumental  in discussions with and reminders to with her  insistence to the Environmental Agency to fulfil their obligation to provide the “Flood Defence system” for our  village ( worth approx £490,000) - Regretfully she personally did not see the fruition and completion of this project.
We have walked along this completed project ( between the rail track and the River Trent towards Station Road /Stoke lane many times over the last 9 month, every time, We are always conscious of the fact that this development is now in existence due to the detailed and in-depth WAY Julie personally applied herself to the successful  justification of this project.
We all realise that this particular development will not officially bear the name of our past friend , However that does not prevent  us all locally honouring her memory and achievement
Hence our “unofficial”  naming and dedication of this particular development and  our  “BJ community  way“ of remembering and paying tribute to a wonderful, modest, unselfish, friend and lady of Burton Joyce Village Â
